Sessions 38 & 39: Archdruid Group:
Having excavated the crumbled tower, Sev and the others were on their way out of the West once and for all. Entering the woods, they couldn't help but notice the wailing of the shadow children who were usually playful (in a macabre way). Making their way to the totem, much easier when the woods parted for the archdruid, they found Dante waiting for them.
He needed their help clearing out a ziggurat of Al'Zareef summoners before they made him look ineffectual and emboldened the Houses to start a civil war. Worse, the summoners were plotting to conjure something far beyond their ability to control. Dante would have taken care of the matter himself, but the walls of the ziggurat were designed to keep outsiders in and no one could teleport through. However, house leader Husifar said that if his entire family gathered, they might be able to use blood magic to open a momentary portal. In return for the group's help, Dante would operate the totem to get them back home and pledge the vampire army (once reformed) toward the destruction of the Ice Queen.
The group accepted, riding to the ziggurat wedged in the mountains. With the Al'Zareefs' help, they entered the ziggurat and braved many traps and summoned monsters, including, nagas, an efreeti, a gem elemental, several summoners, the rogue devil Tazjaree, a shadow hound, and burning skeletons.
Entering the final chamber, the group found that Serren's earthquakes had broken the summoning circle drawn across the floor. Seven vampire summoners lay dead at their feet. Sirocco noticed that a piece of the room's mural, a depiction of a bloated, white salamander with three lightning rods for horns, was breathing. With a cry for electrical protection, the demon prince Ixitila tore off the mural and exploded onto the scene.
The group fights even now, breaking about even with the demon prince in terms of blows. Hopefully Ixitila doesn't go through any growth spurts like the demon lord Falst did during his fight...
